What drew you to producing this script?
Having read an early draft which made me laugh and cry, I simply had to be part of this great project.
What has your experience like while working on this feature?
The experience was amazing. The best part was the people. They worked so hard and professionally. An inspiration.
How would a typical day on producing on a feature go for you?
My typical day would be to check emails and make sure all of the crew and actors have signed their paperwork!
I also help out as a runner doing whatever is necessary to help, however small.
How have your past projects developed your skills and knowledge as a producer?
Definitely, starting with a small crew and working up to bigger things in my short films has made the transition to feature film possible. Experience, especially the making of mistakes, really helps in a full feature.
How do you go about finding finance for a film?
With difficulty! You need a good story and script that persuades investors or sales agent that people will want to see the film and also that they want the people to see it.
What’s the hardest thing about producing, and how do you approach it?
The length of time it takes to get the film from script to screen, many times years, means that you have to have endurance.
How and when did you start producing films?
6 years ago when I decided to start writing and needed to get my work made.
What is key to successfully communicating with the crew to make a production run smoothly?
Information, information, information! And a plan.
How do you keep your productions on schedule and within your budget?
Constant vigilance!
What advice would you give to those who are starting out as producers?
Prepare for a marathon, not a sprint.
